We are delighted to announce that our Lowestoft Town FC Scholar Jay Barbor has signed a contract with the first team

Central Midfielder Jay, a second year scholar with the Football Industry College Lowestoft Programme, has signed his first professional contract after impressing Lowestoft managers, Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds. Whilst in the academy, Jay was rewarded with a first team debut as a substitute away Vs Bromsgrove during the 2019/20 season.

“It’s no surprise that Jay has earned himself a contract with the First Team at Lowestoft Town FC. It’s been known in this area for several years now that Jay has obvious ability and has the potential to do well in the game and it’s great that Godders and Reyns have presented Jay with this wonderful opportunity. The hard work starts now though as it’s vital that Jay arrives at the first pre season session fit enough to physically compete with and against players who are far more experienced and have already proved themselves at this level. I have no doubt that Reyns will keep us all at Football Industry College regularly updated with Jay’s progress and I’m sure next years students will have a keen interest as many of them will want to follow in Jay’s footsteps by earning themselves a contract with Lowestoft Town.”

While studying towards his Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science with our post 16 football education programme, Jay was an elite squad player commanding the central midfielder position, which saw him break into the senior first team squad with Lowestoft Town FC at the age of seventeen.

“Firstly, I am really proud to have been offered this opportunity at the club, it’s a big challenge to take on and I feel as though I have the right support within the industry college, family and peers around me that believe in my potential to achieve big things to help me step up and improve my game.  Secondly, I’d like to say thank you to Andy and Jamie for allowing me the chance to prove myself. The coaches at the college have helped guide me down the right pathway and helped get me to where I am today. I’m looking forward to starting pre season with the team and seeing where my journey takes me!!”
