Paid Work Opportunities for Football Industry College Scholars

by May 12, 2022

Over the past academic year scholars across our national programmes have successfully secured a range of industry relevant paid work opportunities alongside their current studies

Running directly from Football Hubs, our further education programme opens doors to those who are looking for work around their further education. Scholars have the chance to apply for roles within community coaching, officiating, customer assistant, media and broadcasting that will develop skills, experience, and enrichen their CV’s.

Upon starting their diploma qualification scholars undertake the unit ‘Preparing for a Career in Sport’ which focuses on the skills and techniques into writing a CV and delivering that match winning interview. They then undertake real life job interview experiences conducted by Directors, managers, and HR teams from across the football hubs we operate.

Although the primary aim is to provide all scholars with valuable experiences in preparing for work it does give, interviewers the opportunity to offer paid jobs to scholars that impress, stand out and deliver those match winning interviews.

Below we look at just some of the scholars who have achieved paid work opportunities from across our national football education programmes.

Football Coaching

Scholars who have a pathway onto coaching and have gained an entry level coaching qualification, have had some great opportunities to develop their skills across a range of community coaching, club academies and half-term football camps.

Customer Assistant Roles

With LU Graves, Sheffield and FDC Norwich being busy football hubs, scholars have also been successful in securing customer assistant roles becoming valuable members of the team for the fantastic running of the hubs.

We like to give the students the first chance of any available opportunities of employment at LU Graves. This has proven to give us several strong team members. The students already know the facility and have a relationship with the staff, including a level of respect. The job usually comes with the understanding they put 110% into their in-house Education course, delivered by Football Industry College, this has always ensured we have good workers and the education team get good students. While working with us the students grow in confidence, life and employability skills.  Our roles in the centre can include anything from reception, cleaning to admin. We can also offer the experience of coaching on our in-house sessions where the students can learn and develop in areas, they are passionate in. Past and current students now have part time jobs, coach sessions, and take children’s parties where their passion for coaching really shines through. We are looking forward to working with many more of the students in the future
